I never could think straight...

I am such a resistant blogger. I enjoy the *idea* of blogging so much more than scribbling in a notebook that no one else will ever see. When I try to actually do it, I get all bogged down when I realize people could read what I post. It's a pain.

I have totally lost my momentum on How To Think Sideways. :( Nanowrimo is coming up, and I am in a slump.

Not on, Madeleine. Do something about this already!

I finished a fanfic first draft on Saturday. There is a lot of work yet to be done, but I have the shape of the thing, so YAY!

A naive engineer falls in love with a mermaid in a space station brothel and risks his life to free her, then realizes that she is cybernetically wired to the station.

A lonely teenager struggling to care for her delusional mother discovers their literal family tree and must expose the secrets it shelters to break the magic warping her mother's mind.

At the suggestion of someone from the Panda workgroup, I spent some time yesterday lying down with my sleeping blindfold on, asking Madeleine questions.

It helped. A lot. I think I can write two of my three sentences tonight.

Bonus? I woke up with a delicious fanfic idea, starring my favorite redhead.

It's week 4 of How to Think Sideways. When I tried to build on it, I realized that my week 3 was a little light on content. *koff.*

I sent up a flare to my fellow Pandas and got some great advice, so I'm turning "week" 3 into a 14 day adventure. I hate being behind my team, but I have to actually work the program and do all of my homework if I really want to change my writing habits. *sigh.*

Maybe I can catch up on week 5? Or maybe my "Sentences" will be so easy once lightning strikes that I can blow by that lesson in a day?

I really hate being behind.
